This program has been developed for the carer (partner or family member). It provides essential local support, dementia education and tools to empower the family to care for their loved one now and as their needs change.

The Dementia Resilience Skills for Families program includes:

An individualised assessment where the occupational therapist meets with the person with dementia and the family carer to evaluate the strengths, needs and goals of both people.

Finite weekly small group sessions for family carers focused on:

Understanding dementia and its impact on daily life​

Encouraging engagement through practical, tailored strategies to help your loved one participate in everyday life

Navigating changes (including behavioural shifts) now and into the future
-
Building local connections with other families and support services.

Please note, the person with dementia is not required to attend these group sessions.
